St John's in the Vale Centre - Our Vision Statement

Come and Encounter ‘Life in all its Fullness’  John 10:10

We aim to provide quality self-catering group accommodation with a Christian foundation.  We hope that people using the Centre will find a place that helps them find hope and refreshment; will encourage and nurture relationships; enable them to encounter the wonder of creation.

Values that we encourage are: Unconditional Love, Serving one Another, Hopefulness, Thankfulness, Cheerfulness, Caring for Creation.

Formerly the Church School, the Centre was first opened by the Bishop of Carlisle in 1952 with the addition of the Chapel House.  Subsequently in 2000 the School House was extended and modified, including disabled accommodation.

Situated between the two buildings is the Parish Church of St Johns in the Vale.  It has been a place of worship since the mid 16th century. It is still a place of worship for the local community and serves the Centre as a chapel.  You are welcome to come and be part of the Sunday morning service.  If you are coming as a church group and would like to take part in the service please contact the Rev Dr Susi Wood.

The Centre is managed by a committee made up of representatives from the Parish, Diocese and Centre Users.  It is staffed by a Centre Manager and Assistant.  There is also a Chaplain who is the Vicar of St John’s in the Vale Church and St Mary’s, Threlkeld.
